Variability of leaf pubescence characteristics in transgenic tobacco lines with partial proline dehydrogenase gene suppression

Proline, an amino acid, plays important role in plants, and it is involved stress resistance development. Earlier, to study the proline maintaining we obtained genetically modified transgenic lines of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) with reduced activity dehydrogenase (PDH, degradation gene) increased content proline. Transgenic plants demonstrated greater high concentrations NaCl, drought, low temperatures, heavy metals vs. control plants. The visual assessment showed that leaf pubescence varied noticeably. Here apply automated analysis folds estimate quantitative characteristics SR1 line under non-stress conditions. Our results differences number trichomes their length between trichome significantly (from 1.5 3 times). largest numbers were observed for lengths from 0 380 µm. When assessing length, opposite was observed. In all three lines, lower than line. data indicate effect as metabolome component affecting plant phenotype. demonstrate perspectives promising genetic models studying morphogenesis.
